The Author Imam al-Khassaf :

He is Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn 'Amr ibn Mahir al-Shaybani (from the tribe of Shaiban) rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi. He was born around 181 AH and died in the year 261 AH (874/5CE) at the age of 80. He was known as al-Khassaf. 

Ibn Nadim stated thad Imam al-Khassaf was a Jurist (Qadi), expert on the science of compulsory duties, a mathematician and well aware of the opinions and Ijtihad of Hanafi Jurists and enjoyed precedence on the court of Muhtadi Billah. His early education was at the hands of his father Umar bin Muhair who was a pupil of Imam Hasan ibn Ziyad who in turn was a pupil of Imam Abu Hanifah, may Allah be pleased with them.

Imam Kafwi has counted Imam al-Khassaf in the second category of the fuquha and the mujtahidin and has named his category of the later period great Hanafis.



Imam al-Jassas :

He is Imam Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn 'Ali al-Razi, al-Hanafi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi. He lived during the 10th century CE and is most renowned for his contributions to Islamic jurisprudence, particularly his works on Quranic exegesis and legal theory. He was known as al-Jassas [d.370. He passed away in 370 After Hijri (being 980 Common Era).  

Imam al-Jassas was a prominent Islamic scholar and jurist of the Hanafi school of thought. One of his most significant contributions is his work on Qur'anic exegesis (tafsir), titled “Ahkam al-Quran” (The Rulings of the Qur'an). This work focuses on deriving legal rulings from the Qur'anic text, emphasising the relationship between the Qur'an and Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence).
