This ode is known as Qasidat al-Burda al-Hasaniyya al-Husayniyya fI Madh al Khayr al-Bariyya.

It was composed by a scion of the Noble Household of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, our eminent shaykh and teacher, Ṣaliḥ Muḥammad al-Jafari al-Sadiqi al-Husayni, graduate of al-Azhar University, and Imam and lecturer at the al-Azhar Mosque.

Shaykh Salih al-Jafari, a renowned saint, scholar, and Sufi poet, composed this ode to honour the Ahl al-Bayt, the noble family of our Master, Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, and specifically the Masters of the Mantle (Ahl al-Kisa), comprising his daughter Faṭima, her husband ‘Ali, their children and their descendants عليهم السلام. These sacred figures hold a central position in Islamic history and theology. They are revered by Muslims across the globe for their moral exemplariness, erudition, and spiritual lineage.

This poem encapsulates the veneration and devotion that Muslims hold for the Ahl al-Bayt. Through elegant verse, it artfully explores their exalted merits, their role as spiritual guides, and their enduring influence on the Muslim community.

About the Author :

Shaykh as-Sayyid Salih al-Maliki al-Jafari, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, was a gnostic of the tariqa of Sayyid Ahmad ibn Idris, radi Allahu ta'ala anhu. He was born [1328h] and raised in the city of Dongola, Sudan in a very pious and Islamic upbringing. The family are descended from Hadrat Imam Husayn, radi Allahu ta'ala anhu. Shaykh Salih memorised the Qur'an at an early age and excelled in it. He went onto study in Egypt under many shaykhs, eventually becoming an Imam and teacher at Al-Azhar University, Cairo. He passed away in 1399h and was laid to rest in the vicinity of Al-Azhar.
