Jadd al Mumtar ala Radd al Muhtar [Seven Volumes on Hanafi Fiqh]. This is the comprehensive and outstanding supercommentary of Imam al-Ahl as-Sunnat: Shah Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, 'alayhir ar-rahman w'al Ridwan, on the Hashiya (marginalia) of Allamah Ibn Abidin [al-Shaami].


'Radd al Muhtar' is the name of the Hashiya by Ibn Abidin. Ala'Hadrat Fadil al-Barelwi's, 'Jadd al Mumtar' is the sharh.

About the Author :

Al-Shaykh al-Imām Ahmad Ridā Khān al-Qadiri (b. 1272 AH/1856 CE), alayhi ar-Rahman w'al-Ridwan, was a renowned Hanafī jurist, hadīth expert (muhaddith) and theologian par excellence, recognised by scholars from the Islamic world to be a reviver (mujaddid) of his era.


AlaHadrat, alayhi ar-Rahman, was a prolific writer whose legal edicts (Al-Fatawa Ridawiyya) were gathered into numerous encyclopedic volumes and covered almost every science of his day.  He is known to have authored in excess of 1000 books.

About Imam ibn Abidin :

He is Muhammad Amin ibn Abd al-Aziz Ibn Abidin (1198–1252 AH / 1783–1836 CE) also known as Imam Ibn Abidin ash-Shami. He was a prominent Islamic scholar and Jurist who lived in the city of Damascus in Syria during the Ottoman era. He was the authority of the fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) of the Hanafi madhhab (school of law). He was a state employee with the title of Amin al-fatwa. This meant that he was the Mufti that people would go to when they had legal questions in Damascus.


Ibn Abidin composed over 50 works consisting of a major fatawa (legal statement) collection, many treatises, poems, and several commentaries on the works of others. His most famous work was the Radd al-Muhtar ala Ad-Durr al-Mukhtar.
