Description :
Ibn Rushd, The Mujtahid of Europe; His Programme for the Revitalisation of the Deen with Special Reference to Trade, Usury and Markets.
"This work... powerfully demonstrates the timeless dimension of the human quest for justice. This core regarding the human social situation is inseparable also from the question of as to the legitimacy of economic power. As a master-jurist, Ibn Rushd is in a position - from the basis of Islam - to separate the Law not only form the machinations of political-economic power but also to substantiate its basic claim to existence as a whole from the Qur'anic revelation." ---(From the Foreword by Abu Bakr Rieger).
This study of Ibn Rushd (Averroes) is not only a historical homage
to the genius of this great European but it is also much more a reminder
that “Law is more than merely state laws”. Much emphasis is quite
rightly placed on his judgements regarding riba/usury, trade and
commerce which must necessarily be at the heart of any Muslim society.
