Translated by Abdul Aziz Suraqah

Description :
Ever since its composition in the seventh Islamic century, by the poet, scholar and spiritual master Muhammad b. Said al-Busiri,
al-Kawakib al-durriyya fi madh Khayr al-Bariyya (The Celestial Lights in Praise of the Best of Creation), more commonly known as the
Burda, has been a mainstay of the Muslim choral tradition from East to West.
The
Qasida al-Burda is the quintessence of devotional praise and expression of passionate love for the Prophet,
may Allah bless him and give him peace, for both the expert and layman. It adorns architecture throughout the Muslim lands and also found a place on the walls of the Prophet’s,
ﷺ, Mosque in Medina.
Islam’s greatest poem is presented in this book in a convenient flexi-bound, handbook format with beautiful, yet easily readable Arabic text alongside Abdul Aziz’s refined and lucid translation. It is a perfect edition to be used in gatherings of praise of the Prophet,
may Allah bless him and give him peace, and will serve as a useful travel companion.
Imam al-Busairi,
may Allah be pleased with him, composed the poem in the
13th Century (C.E.) after suffering a stroke which left him partially
paralised. In a dream, he recited the poem to the Prophet Muhammad,
may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who then touched the paralised part of his body and threw his cloak (
Burdah) over
him. On awakening, he discovered he had been miraculously cured of his
paralysis.
