Sharh al-Arba'in al-Mukhtarah min Hadith Imam Abi Hanifah - this book is a collection of 51 Ahadiths divided in to 40 chapters, ie forty main hadith chapters which is collection of Imam Abu Hanifa's chain, all the way to the 9th century Hijri compiler Imam Yusuf Ibn 'Abd al-Hadi.


The work contains extensive editorial notes by the editor who has verified much of the ahadith used in this volume. An excellent print with an excellent editorial effort. Each transmission contains a connecting chain from Ibn al-Mabrid all the way to Imam Abu Hanifah and beyond.




About the Author :

He is Yusuf bin Hasn bin Ahmad bin Hasan, bin Ahmad bin `Abd al-Hadi bin `Abd al-Hamid bin `Abd al-Hadi bin Yusuf bin Muhammad bin Qudama bin Miqdam bin Nas bin Fath bin Hudhayfa bin Muhammad bin Ya`qub bin al-Qasim bin Ibrahim bin Isma`il bin Yahya bin Muhammad bin Sali bin `Abd Allah bin `Umar bin al-Khattab. His agnomen is Abu al-Mahasin, nicknamed Jamal al-Din, but well known as “Ibn al-Mabrid” (with a fatha on the mim and a sukun on the ba). He was born in approximately 840 AH, in Damascus.

His instructors in the Qur'an included :

---Ahmad al-Misri al-Hanbali,
---Muhammad al-`Askari,
---`Omar al-`Askari,
---Zayn al-Din al-Habbal.

His instructors in fiqh included :

---Taqi al-Din al-Jara`i,
---Taqi al-Din Qundis,
---`Ala al-Din al-Mardawi,
---Burhan al-Din Ibn Muflih,
---Burhan al-Din al-Zar`i.

His instructors in hadith included :

---Ibn al-`Iraqi,
---Ibn al-Balisi,
---al-Jammal ibn al-Harastani,
---al-Salah ibn abi `Omar,
---Ibn Nasr al-Din – the muhaddith of Sham.

He received ijazas from:

---al-Hafiz Ibn Hajr,
---al-Taqi al-Shamni,
---al-Shihab al-Hijazi,
---al-Burhan al-Ba`li,
---Abu `Abd Allah bin Fahd,
---Qasim bin Qatluba`a al-Misri,
---Al-Jammal ibn Nazi al-Sahiyya.

He authored well over 80 individual works in various disciplines, including Qur'anic exegesis, grammar, morphology, and rhetoric. However his greatest contributions were in hadith and fiqh.

Some of his works are ;

---Al-Tabyin bi Tabaqat Al-Muhaddithin, in seven volumes,
---Mughni dhawil Afham,
---Alfiyyah Al-Munirah, in 2 volumes,
---Jama’ Al-‘Adad,
---As-Sarim Al-Mughni,
---Sharh al-Arba'in al-Mukhtarat min Hadith al-Imam Abi Hanifah.

He died in 909AH. May Allah grant him His mercy.
