Al-Tanqih fi Hadith al-Tasbih - wa Yalihi Tuhfat al-Ikhbari bi tarjamat al-Bukhari - is the sharh of the hadith of Imam al-Bukahri, " Kalimatan habibatan ila ar-Rahman Khafifatan `ala al-lisan, thaqilatan fi al-mizan Subhanallahi wa bi hamdih, subhanallahi al-azeem."





He is Al-Hafidh Shams al-Din ibn Nasir al-Din al-Dimashqi [b.777 / d.842 h]. He studied under the Muhaddith of his time, Imam ad-Dhahabi al-Shafi'i [d. 748 h] and was also an admirer of the controversial scholar ibn Taymiyya.


Shaykh ibn Nasir al-Din wrote not one, but several books on the praiseworthiness of Mawlid, among them are :


   *** Jami‘ al-Athar fi Mawlid al-Nabi al-Mukhtar (The Compendium of Reports Concerning the Birth of the Chosen Prophet, ﷺ),
   *** al-Lafz al-Ra’iq fi Mawlid Khayr al-Khala’iq (The Shining Expressions for the Birth of the Best of Creation, ﷺ) and,
   *** Mawrid al-Sadi bi Mawlid al-Nabi al-Hadi (The Continuous Spring: the Birth of the Guiding Prophet, ﷺ).
