Description :

The author of the original book, Rajkumar Hardev was a Prince of Deccan who travelled to Delhi to meet Hadrat Nizamuddin Auliya, may Allah be pleased with him. Upon meeting him he converted to Islam and became Shaykh Nizamuddin's disciple. He wrote down his memoirs (Chehel Roza - farsi) which capture in vivid detail the influence and inspiration of Shaykh Nizamuddin on all those who came into contact with him, from the Kings of India to the very low.

Rajkumar Hardev's memoirs include eye-witness accounts of many important issues of that time and even of today, such as listening to sama, bowing in front of the shaykh, relationship between the Sufi's and the Kings, etc. Rajkumar's narrative bears authenticity as he eventually rose to become Prime Minister of India under Muhammad Shah Tughlaq whose daughter he married, but never for a moment lost his love and devotion for his shaykh. He eventually lost his life in the palace intrigues but left behind for history a memorable account of his life.

One of the most charismatic personalities of South Asia, Shaykh Nizam-u'd-din Auliya, may Allah be pleased with him, was leader of the premier Chishtiya order in Delhi from 1244-1325. A scholar and a mystic he left a lasting impression on the life and thought, not only of his contemporaries, but also of subsequent generations.
