The Literary Structure of the Qur'anic Verse,
Hardback - 251 pages,
by Professor 'Abd al-Rahim 'Ali Muhammad Ibrahim,
Description :
Approaches to the study of the Qur'anic style used to be either strictly grammatical or strictly rhetorical. Here, however, a partly descriptive and partly analytical approach is adopted to the aspect of the structure. It is an attempt to draw attention to the ayah (verse) as the basic independent unit of the Qur'an. To begin with, the ayah is defined in terms of its relation to the verse in Arabic poetry and the sentence in prose.
This outstanding work has treated the Qur'anic verse as an independent unit. Stylistic effects are traced based on varying structure, emphasis, word order, conciseness, use of pronouns and tenses. The profound structure of the Qur'anic verse is thus established.
