Tahseen al-Wusul 'Ila Mustala Hadith al-Rasul, is a work on the science & principles of Hadith ; Ilm Mustalah al-Hadith, and is compiled by Mufti Aslam Rida Shewani. The author has provided a useful work on hadith criticism, classification, compilation and authenticity. It provides a wide-ranging coverage of hadith methodology and literature at intermediate level.
Manzumat al-Bayquniyya facilitates the quest of defining Usul al-Hadith for the beginner level student. The erudite author, al-Imam 'Umar al-Bayquni al-Dimashqi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, (d. 1080 H.) succinctly defined thirty-four categories of Hadith in his famous thirty-four verses of poetry.
Muqaddimah al-Jami' al-Ridawi is also a work on
Usul al Hadith comprising 32 sections which span 25 pages. This is in fact a revised edition of Shaykh Zafar al-Din's "
al-Ifadat al-Ridawiyya" (1344h) which he learnt and studied under the
Muhaddith al-Imam Ahmad Rida Khan al-Hanafi,
alayhi ar-Rahman w'al-Ridwan.
Jami al Ridawi took the scholarly circles of the Indian subcontinent by storm especially the Hanafiya scholars. Critical and favourable reviews by almost all the leading scholars of Ahl us Sunnah appeared in the journals & newspapers. It was also praised by the Wahhabiya Deobandiya scholars like Sayyid Sulayman Nadvi of Nadwat al-Ulama, Lukhnow, Molvi Abdul Majid Daryabadi, and Molvi Saeed Ahmad Akbarabadi.
Mufti Aslam Rida Shewani:
He is Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Aslam Raza Shewani al-Yamani. He is based in the U.A.E but is a fluent
Urdu and Arabic speaker. He has compiled and edited numerous works, mainly in the Arabic language.
He is an ardent admirer of the
Imam of the
Ahl al-Sunnah, al-Shaykh Imam Ahmad Rida Khan al-Qadiri,
alayhi ar-Rahman, and has also
published a selection of Shaykh Imam Ahmad Rida's works into Arabic.
Imam al-Bayquni :
He is Imam 'Umar bin Muhammad ibn Futuh al-Bayquni, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi. He was a syrian (Damascene) scholar and a shafi'i. He was a Muhaddith of his time. His most famous work, the Bayquniyya poem on the principles of hadith; Usul al-Hadith is renowned the world over by students of knowledge. Many commentaries have been completed on this work.
Allama Zafar al-Din Bihari :
He is Shaykh Zafar ud Deen al Bihari al-Ashrafi al-Hanafi, may Allah have mercy upon him, (1303-1382 hijri). He was one of the great scholars in the Indian Sub-continent at the turn of the century. He had been given the title 'Malik ul ulama' by his contemporaries meaning they deemed him the king amongst the ulama of his time. He was not just a great muhaddith and jurist but was also a master of Science and worldly knowledge. In particular he was renowned for establishing accurate salah times for different areas using his expertise in both fiqh and science. He was also a prolific writer and debater. He was a student of the Reviver of Islam, Shaykh Imam Ahmad Rida Khan al-Qadiri al-Hanafi, alayhi ar-Rahman w'al-Ridwan.
