Description :
Al-Araa al-Kalamiyyah wa-al-Sufiyyah 'inda al-Qushayri : This work in Arabic presented here in two volumes is the PhD thesis of Dr Imam Hanafi Sayyid Abdullah, a lecturer at Cairo University, Egypt.
The author has collated all the viewpoints of Imam al-Qushayri, rahimahullah, on the matters of Aqidah and Tasawwuf. This is particularly useful for readers who don't have the time to go through all the works of Imam al-Qushayri to find his opinion on a certain subject matter.
About this Edition : Although the text is handy, the print is perhaps not of the highest quality. Unfortunately several of the references are printed off the bottom edge of the page. Although this may not be absoluetly critical, it is reflected in the selling price. Two volume print on cream paper. Published by Maktaba Sufiyah [Dar al-Thakafa al-Diniyah, Egypt].
Imam Abu'l Qasim 'Abd al-Karim al-Qushayri, may Allah be pleased with him, was the student of the leading sufi scholar of the time; Shaykh Abu `Ali al-Daqqaq, may Allah be pleased with him. Al-Qushayri, was a muhaddith [master of aHadith] who transmitted hadith to pupils by the thousands in Naysabur, in which he fought the Mu`tazila until he flew to Makkah to protect his life. He was also a mufassir who wrote a complete commentary of the Qur'an entitled Lata'if al-Isharat bi Tafsir al-Qur'an (The Subtleties and Allusions in the Commentary of the Qur'an). Al-Qushayri, may Allah be pleased with him, was born in 986 CE in the province of Khurasan, the richest centre of eastern Islamic civilisation.
