An Introductory book on 40 Hadith.

Foreword : The Beloved Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, said;

''Whosoever teaches Forty hadith to my Ummah, then Allah Almighty will raise him as a faqih (jurist)
and I will intercede for him on the Day of Judgement.'' [Shu'ab al-Iman, vol II, P.270].

To attain such a great reward, the Muslim scholars have compiled books that comprise of forty Ahadith. To gain such an honour, I too have compiled such a book, with the intention of giving encouragement to our children to learn the sayings of the Beloved Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace. These Ahadith are very brief. A child aged seven or eight can easily memorise these ahadith.


In this short compilation, the Ahadith cover topics such as Islamic doctrine, worship, dealings, morals and ethics and the major sins and encouragement to refrain from them.


The Hadith I have chosen looks like one hadith, but in reality it consists of forty Ahadith, because it covers forty rulings. The unique feature of this Hadith is that the Beloved Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, himself taught it to Salman al-Farsi, May Allah be pleased with him.


Salman al-Farsi, May Allah be pleased with him, reports that he asked the Beloved Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, about the Forty Ahadith. He replied that the person who learns them will enter Paradise. The Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, read these forty Ahadith to Salman al-Farsi, May Allah be pleased with him, and promised that the person who memorises them will be raised with the Prophets, Peace be upon them, and Saints on the Day of Judgement. _{---Allama Muhammad Din al-Sialvi}.
