Extract from the Foreword :

“Much of the public has very little knowledge regarding the life of Imām al-Ḥasan (may Allah be pleased with Him) in comparison to Imām al-Ḥusayn (may Allah be pleased with Him).

The same way we rightly remember and commemorate the life and sacrifices of Imām al-Ḥusayn, as well as the victories and achievements of other companions and members of the Ahl al-Bayt, we must remember and celebrate the great achievements of Imām al-Ḥasan (may Allah be pleased with Him) also.

“The Forgotten Caliph: Imām al-Ḥasan b. ‘Alī”, was compiled by Mawlana Mubeen Raza for the benefit of people in order that they have some knowledge with regard to the life of Sayyiduna Imām al-Ḥasan (may Allah be pleased with Him). We ask Allah Almighty to enable the people to read this book and benefit from it, and we ask Him to enable the instructors and lecturers to teach this book in the Masajid to the future generations.”

Shaykh Mubeen Raza was born and raised in Coventry, where he pursued his education until sixth form level. He then proceeded to study Human Physiology at the University of Leeds, from where he graduated successfully with a BSc (Hons).

His attention then turned to the pursuit of sacred knowledge, studying initially in Jamia tul Madina in Bradford and Birmingham, before undertaking advanced studies in Karachi and Lahore, gaining the honour of studying under the erudite jurist and author of a detailed commentary on Jāmi` al-Tirmidhi, Mufti Hashim Khan Attari, and the prominent Quranic exegetist and master jurist, Mufti Muhammad Qasim Attari.

Outside of the Jamia, he also continued to benefit from other teachers regularly, including the likes of Shaykh Asrar Rashid, with the senior-most of all being the renowned ‘teacher of thousands of scholars’, Imām al-Mudarrisīn, al-‘Allāma Ghulam Muhammad Tonswi (may Allah have mercy on Him), a leading student of the legendary Ustādh al-Kull, al-Imām ‘Ataa Muhammad Bandyalwi (may Allah sanctify his secret).

Shaykh Mubeen has been teaching the sacred sciences of Islam for close to a decade, with particular interests in Arabic grammar and rhetoric as well as the core fields of Ḥadīth and Tafsīr.
