Description :
Fatawa Qazi Khan [Qadi Khan] (also known as al-Fatawa al-Khaniyyah) is one of the most authoritative and celebrated legal compendia in the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence. It was compiled by the distinguished jurist Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Hasan bin Mansur al-Uzjandi al-Farghani al-Hanafi (d. 592 AH/1196 CE), rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi
It's main characteristics is that it focuses' on practical rulings rather than deriving rulings directly from primary texts with long chains of evidence. the text focuses on frequently occurring, real-world issues faced by the community. It also details the differences of opinion among early Hanafi jurists (such as Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Abu Yusuf, and Imam Muhammad) and clearly outlines the preferred (rajih) position to be acted upon.
It's influence can be found on later monumental works, including Fatawa Shami (Radd al-Muhtar), Fatawa Alamgiri (also known as Fatawa Hindiyyah), and AalaHadrat's Fatawa Razaviyya. All heavily rely or reference in the legal verdicts (fatawa) of Qadi Khan.
Regarding Fatawa Qadi Khan, AlaHadrat Imam Ahmad Rida Khan, alayhi ar-Rahman, has written marginal notes and annotations in Arabic at around 365 places. These annotations, which were inaccessible due to lack of publication, are now available adorned with the ornamentation of printing. The translation of these annotations, called “Taliqat-e-Razaviyya,” has also been included in the translator’s Fatawa Qadi Khan. The Arabic annotations found in Fatawa Qadi Khan are also present in “Makhtut” and “Fatawa Razaviyya.” Additionally, there are other explanations and annotations specific to Fatawa Qadi Khan in Urdu that can be referred to at various places in Fatawa Razaviyya.
Alhamdulillah, for the first time, an Urdu translation of this book is being published after six years of continuous effort by Shaykh al-Hadith Mufti Muhammad Siddiq Hazarvi. There are also multiple reviews by scholars, 'Mufti Azam Pakistan' Mufti Muneeb Rahman, Allama Abdul Razzaq Bhatralwi, Dr. Noor Ahmed Shahtaz and Dr. Tahir Raza Bukhari. Undoubtedly, the presence of this book in libraries is extremely beneficial and necessary for scholars, students and the general public.
