Synopsis: Today the Muslim World faces many problems from within itself and outside of its community. This book is a solution to those problems, proposed in 1912 by one of the greatest Muslims of Modern Times, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi, Rahmatullahi alayh, who was so great that he was called the Reviver (Mujaddid) of the Islamic Century for his work.
When the West came to dominate the Muslim World, many Muslims deserted Islam, and thought they would rise to the top of Western society by political campaigns and by getting good degrees at Western Universities , to get good jobs with the non-Muslims! In India these groups built non-Muslim Colleges and Universities, and went in for nationalistic campaigns, to get the mass of the Muslims behind them, especially by all manner of phoney “solidarity” campaigns with Muslims around the World, such as the Turks.
In this book Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, May Allah be pleased with him, proposed his solution. The solidarity campaigns achieved nothing. And the Muslims who tried to get good jobs with the non-Muslims were the subject of systematic prejudice and discrimination. The Muslims should, he thought, instead form their own society, as an island in the wider society, by handling all their own legal business themselves, by buying from and selling to each other, by forming their own Islamic Banks, and by developing Islamic Knowledge. This would develop a really 'Islamic' Community, and the culture to develop it further. This policy of developing Islam as an island , had been the policy of Sunni Islam ever since the collapse of Islamic Rule with the decline of the Caliphate. Imam Raza thus continued a thousand year old tradition. As for sending money to the Turks, they should send the millions of rupees contributed to build a secular university!
