One of the first English translations of the poems (couplets) of the great sufi saint of the Punjab.

The father of Punjabi poetry Hadrat Baba Farid Masood Ganj-e-Shakar, may Allah be pleased with him, [1173 -1266] was born in the City of Kothiwal, near Dipalpur in the Punjab. It is now called Pak Pattan; the ancient name has been recorded as Ajodhan. It was an important metroplis on the Multan-Delhi route.

The poetry of Hadrat Baba Farid are so well acclaimed that they are even included in the 'Bible' the Guru Granth, the sacred book of the Sikh religion. Hadrat Baba Farid was a major influence to the Sikhs.
