About the Author of the Commentary : Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Wahab ibn Muti' al-Qushayri, Abu 'l-Fattah, Taqi'ud-Din, popularly known, just like his father & grandfather, as Ibn Daqiq al-'Id, may Allah have mercy upon him. Born in Cairo in 625 where he initialy studied under his father who was a Maliki and then after finishing studies there went on to Sultan al-'Ulama 'Izzu Din ibn 'Abd al-Salam, may Allah have mercy upon him, who was a Shafi' and therefore consequently Ibn Daqiq became a Shafi'i. He was known for his impecable skills in memorising and his desire to learn more. He became the renewer of the Seventh Islamic century. He also studied under Ibn `Ata' Allah al-Isakandari, may Allah have mercy upon him, next to whom he was buried.
