The Mishkat shareef has enjoyed wide popularity in the world of Islamic learning Since 516 AH when it was first compiled by Imam Wali 'ud-Din Abu 'Abd 'allah Mahmud al-Khatib al-Tabrizi, [d.741h] may Allah be pleased with him.


The Collection is divided into 29 - twenty-nine books (kutub) and each book is divided into several chapters (abwab). Thereafter each chapter is further divided into three sections (fasl). The Mishkat shareef has enjoyed wide popularity in the world of Islamic learning since 516 AH when it was first compiled by  Al-Tabrizi. Most of the hadith are from the Sahih Sittah, (the six authentic hadith Books).


Wali 'ud-Din Abu Abd 'Allah Mahmud Al-Tabrizi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, was a renowned muhaddith (scholar of the science of Ahadith) of his time. He was well-versed in the intricacies of the Arabic language and rhetorics. It is unfortunate, however, that not much is known about his life. Al-Tabrizi is to be commanded for successfully improving upon Al-Baghawi's 'Masabih al-Sunnah.'


Widely considered one of the most reliable and authentic collections of ahadith.
