Description from the publisher

This book unlocks the secrets of the seven degrees through which the soul progresses as it travels the Sufi path to its Lord.

It teaches the novice how to transform the Inciting Soul, the lowest and the most egotistic of the self's manifestations, into the Reproachful Soul, which must then become Inspired, Serene, Contented, and Found Pleasing, until it attains the ultimate degree of sanctity and wholeness as the Perfect Soul. To achieve this progressive purification of the self, special Sufi practices, litanies, and attitudes of mind are recommended.

Both practical and profound, this book offers a concise manual of Sufi teaching on the way to spiritual liberation.

The Author :

He is Shaykh Abd al-Khaliq al-Shabrawi al-Shafi'i (1887-1947), may Allah have mercy on him. He was born in a small town north of Cairo and raised under the watchful eye of his grandfather Shaykh 'Umar al-Shabrawi - a renowed Sufi Master and eminent scholar. Shaykh Abd al-Khaliq was a descendent of the second caliph Sayyadina 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, through his father, and of Sayyadina Imam al-Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him, through his mother.

Shaykh Abd al-Khaliq commited the Noble Qur'an to memory at an early age and joined Al-Azhar University in Cairo to study under the foremost authorities of his time. He went onto teach and was employed as a professor at Al-Azhar, but was best known as a realised master of the great Khalwati Order of Sufis. A tireless worker for spiritual unity and harmony, he was also initiated into the Shadhili and Naqshbandi Orders.
