Description :

Shams al-Hidayah fee Asbat Hayaat al-Maseeh : This is an excellent work by Hadrat Sayyiduna Shaykh Pir Mehr Ali Shah Gilani al-Golrawi, rahimahullah.  It basically covers the life of Hadrat 'Isa, (Jesus) alayhi salam, from an Islamic perspective who was a Prophet of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala.

The author wrote this book in response to the deviated to Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadiyan, who claimed to be a Masih. Shaykh Mehr Ali Shah, rahimahullah, refutes the Qadiani cult leader and his followers by quoting many Qur'anic verses, sahih Hadith, as well references from prominent classical scholars.

About the Author :

He is AlaHadrat al-Shaykh Allamah Sayyid Mihr Ali Shah al-Gilani, rahmatullahi ta'a'a 'alayhi. He was born on 14 April 1859 (1 Ramadan, 1275 After Hijri) in Golra Sharif, which is located midway between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan.

Shaykh Mehr Ali Shah is renowned as a Sufi saint, a great Hanafi scholar and especially for vehemently opposing the Qadyani/Ahmadi movement. He wrote numerous books most notably Sayf e Chishtiyyah, (The Sword of the Chishtis), a polemical work regarding the unorthodoxy and the heresy of the Qadiani/Ahmadi movement of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Shaykh Mehr Ali Shah received his early education of the Qur'an at his family khanqah. He completed his intermediate level religious education at local madrasah. His stay in this madrasah was for about 2½ years. After completing his education at Angah at the age of 15, he decided to continue further studies in India.

The shaykh was a disciple and Khalifa of Khawaja Shams-ud-din Sialvi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, of Sial Sharif in the Silsila Chishtiyyah Nizamiyyah. His biography Meher al-Muneer records that he was also made a khalifa by Shaykh Haji Imdadullah Muhajir al-Makki, rahimahullah, when he visited the latter in Makkah.

The shaykh passed away in April 1937 (Safar 13565AH) after a period of illness. His three-day Urs (annual death anniversary) is held every year from 27th to 29th Safar. Thousands of mureeds and devotees come from all over Pakistan to visit his tomb.
