Description :

Al-Sharf al-Mu'abbad li Aal Muhammad, ?, : The Continuous Esteem of the Prophet's Family is perhaps the greatest work about the Family of the Prophetic Offspring (Ahl al-Bayt). The renowned scholar and prolific author Shaykh Yusuf al-Nabahani, may Allah show him mercy, has written a text which is unparalled on this subject.

"Do not liken the Ahl al-Bayt to any other,
For they merit supremacy.
To hate them is mankind's utter ruin,
And to love them is tremendous worship."
---Ibn al-Arabi.

The main opposition against the Ahl al-Bayt are unrighteous people who are in positions of power and influence. They feel their positions to be under threat so remove the Ahl al-Bayt from their places of work or even fight them. This is essentially the struggle Imam al-Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him, faced against corrupt leadership. This opposition continues to exist to this day as people who are trying to do good are often marginalised and those who are doing evil are brought to the fore.

Know that this text explores the subject from the Sunni perspective and not the Shi'a. The Shi'a are those who have left the majority Sunni opinions.

The author :

He is Al-Shaykh al-Imam al-Qadi Yusuf ibn Isma‘il ibn Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Nabahani, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi (1265–1350 AH). He was a renowned hadith scholar, Sufi, jurist, judge, and biographer. He was descended from the Banu Nabhan, an Arab desert folk who settled of old in the town of Ijzim, North of the holy sites in the land of Palestine, presently part of the district (qada') of Haifa in 'Akka, a province of Beirut. Shaykh al-Nabahani was born in Ijzim in 1265/1849 approximately.

He studied under his noble father al-Shaykh al-Hafidh Ismail al-Nabahani, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, thereafter he spent 6 years studying the sacred sciences at Al-Azhar, Cairo. After graduating he returned to his home town and started teaching. His frequent travels took him from Beirut, Damascus, Constantinople  and Iraq where he met many eminent Ulama. He was offered the role of Judge (qadi) which led him to many senior positions as the Chief Qadi in Beirut and also in al-Quds al-Sharif.

A prolific author, Shaykh al-Nabahani left behind a staggering collection of works in hadith, fiqh, theology, and most famously, poetry and prose in praise of our Master Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
