Al-Aqida al-Maturidiyyah fi sharh al-Aqida al-Nasafiyyah : (Kitab al-Tawhid w'al Aqa'id). This treatise known as the "Articles of Belief" (al Aqa'id) in Islam, is by the renowned scholar Imam al-Nasafi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi,  who has  enumerated some 59 points of belief, each one of them being established by a Qur'anic ayah or a sahih hadith. There is a consensus about all these fundamental beliefs mentioned in its' pages and there is no disagreement about them.

The sharh (annotation) is by the renowned Imam Sa'ad al-Din al-Taftazani, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, (d. 792) where he tries to explain the treatise so as to give the details of its general principles and clarify the intricacies of the subject in hand.

This edition published in Paksitan contains the urdu translation (mutarjam wa sharh) by Allama Abu Asim Ghulam Hussain al-Maturidi.

He is Al 'Allamah, Imam Abu Hafs Najm al-Din 'Umar ibn Muhammad an-Nasafi, al-Hanafi, may Allah be pleased with him (d. 537). He was born in a town called Nasaf near Samarkand in Turkestan. He was a great Hanafi scholar and author of some one hundred books on such diverse topics as fiqh, literature, tafsir and so on. Amongst his numerous titles are: the magnanimous Imam, Leader of the Muslim and Star of Religion and Nation.

Imam al-Nasafi wrote a short, succinct and accurate summary of the authentic Muslim beliefs in his popular work, 'Aqaa 'id an-Nasafi, presented here before you.

    Imam as-Sam’ani said, “Imam al-Nasafi was an outstanding jurist, a master in the hanafi school and in Arabic Literature. He wrote many books on fiqh and hadith. He composed the book Al-Jami’ As-Saghir into poetry”!

    “Ibn An-Najjar said about him, “He was an excellent jurist, an exegist, a Muhaddith, Adeeb, a Mufti, and he authored books on Tafsir, hadith, and Shurut.”

    He was the Shaykh of Allama Marghinani (author of al-Hidaya). Allama Marghinani said, “I heard Najm al-Din say, I narrate ahadith from 550 shuyukhs.”
