His fatawa are varied and range from shari'i rulings, fiqh, usul al-fiqh, waqf, transactions, etc. In total 524 fatawa are presented in 2 volumes.

About the Author :
Al-Shaykh al-Qadi al-Mufti al-Imam Muhammad Bakhit al-Muti'i al-Hanafi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi. He was born in 1271AH/1856CE and died in 1935. He was from southern Egypt from a town called “Qati’a” which means “cut off.” It is said he is the one who renamed it to “Muti’a” which means “obedient [to God].”
He was was the Grand Mufti of Egypt, judge in the Shari'a Courts, rector of al-Azhar University, and one of the leading Hanafi-Maturidi scholars of his time. He was educated at al-Azhar and was teaching in this university for several years. From his teachers were Shaykh Muhammad ‘Ilaysh, Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Shirbini, Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa’i, Shaykh Ahmad Minnatullah, Shaykh Ibrahim al-Saqqa, Shaykh Muhammad al-Khudri al-Misri, Shaykh Hasan al-Tawil, Shaykh Muhammad al-Buhuti, Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Bahrawi, Shaykh Muhammad al-Faddali al-Jarwati, Sayyid Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, may Allah have mercy upon their souls, and others. He also met Bediuzzaman Said al-Nursi, rahimahullah. In 1914 he was appointed mufti, a title he held for seven years. He stayed in the position until 1338/1920 when he reached the age of retirement. During his tenure he gave 2,028 fatwas.
He was the most brilliant scholar of his era, the Imam of his time. He was known for solving problems and finding solutions to issues. He was especially masterful in Usul al-Fiqh and the derivation of rulings. He was firm in standing for the truth, forgetting his own needs in the face of supporting what is right. Any place that he went he would continue in teaching and not deprive the students of knowledge from his expertise. In doing so he would often teach the advanced, larger texts in tafsir, hadith, fiqh, usul al-fiqh, tawhid, philosophy, logic, and other subjects. Many great scholars graduated on his hands and gained benefit from his knowledge. From those who learned from him were Shaykh Abdullah ibn Siddiq al-Ghumari and Shaykh Abd al-Wahhab Abd al-Latif.
Although he was occupied with his various professional responsibilities and positions he still managed to author a number of important works. He wrote around 25 books on the various fields of Islamic Studies, especially on topics related to aqidah and fiqh. He passed away on the 21st of Rajab, 1354 After Hijri (October 18, 1935).
