Imam Abu Dawood : He is Abu Dawud Sulayman bin Al-Ash’ath bin Ishaq Al-Azdi As-Sijistani,
may Allah be pleased with him, who was one of the eminent
Imam of
Hadith, born in 202H. He studied
hadith under Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal,
may Allah be pleased with him, along with Imam al-Bukhari and taught many of the later scholars of
hadith, like Imam at-Tirmidhi and Imam an-Nasa’i,
Radi Allahu ta'ala anhum.
Imam Abu-Dawud lived a couple of centuries after the Beloved Prophet,
Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's demise and worked extremely hard to collect his
ahadith.
Each report in his collection was checked for compatibility with the
Qur'an, and the veracity of the chain of reporters had to be
painstakingly established.
