Usul al Bazdawi Kanzul Wusul ila Marifat al-Usul & Takhriz Ahadith Usul al-Bazdawi - this title was perhaps one of the best works in Usul from the early scholars of the Hanafi's, in the sense that it in depth on Usul al-Fiqh as well as its Furu'. This work has enjoyed extensive commentaries and annotations with some Hadith editorial work.


This print has extensive studies and researched analysis. It also contains another work which was written as Hadith editorial and is printed on the marginal notes. It was an early and classical work by a Hanafi Muhaddith of his day.

 


Imam al-Bazdawi : His name was 'Ali b. Muhammad b. al-Hassan b. Abd al-Karim b. Musa b. 'Isa popularly known as Fakhrul Islam Abu al-'Usr al-Bazdawi. He was born in 400 Hijri in the area of Bukhar. He studied with his grandfather early on who was a scholar and an expert in various sciences. His grandfather studied with Imam al-Huda Abi Mansur al-Matarudi. His entire family were great scholars and his older brother was the teacher of Imam al-Nasafi.


The Imam wrote countless works among which :


     *** Tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim (Kashful Astar),
     *** Sharh al-Jami' al-Sahih lil Imam al-Bukhari,
     *** Sharh Ziyadat lil Imam Muhammad,
     *** al-Mabsut fil Furu',
     *** Kanzul Wusul ila Ma'rifat al-Usul,
     *** Sirat al-Madhab fi Siffat al-Adab,
     *** Sharh al-Fiqh al-Akbar,
     *** al-Muyassar fil Kalam.

 ... and many more beneficial works. He passed away on Thursday the 5th of Rajab in 482 and was buried in Samarqand.

 


Imam Qasim al-Hanafi : He is Zaynudin Abu al-'Adl Qasim b. Qutlubugha bin 'Abdullahi as-Suduni also known as Qasim al-Hanafi. He was born in Muharram 802 in Cairo, Egypt. His father passed away while he was little and he was raised as a orphan. After finishing the Qur'an at a young age he continued in his memorisation of many other smaller works. Among his scholars were: Imam ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani, Imam al-Kamal ibn al-Hammam with whom he spent about 36 years, Imam Ibn al-Jazari, Imam al-Sa'd ibn as-Diri, and Imam al-Siraj. Among his popular students are: Imam al-Sakhawi, Imam Jalaludin as-Suyuti, Imam Yusuf Taghri Bardi, Imam al-Biqa'i. He has written many beneficial works among them are :



     *** It-haf al-Ahya'i bima Fata min Takhrij Ahadith al-Ihya,
     *** al-Ajwiba 'ala I'tiradat al-Bukhari 'ala Abi Hanifa,
     *** Ahkam al-Qahqaha,
     *** al-Amali 'ala Musnad Imam Abi Hanifa,
     *** Bughiyat al-Ra'id fi Takhrij Ahadith Sharh al-'Aqa'id,
     *** Takhrij Ahadith "Al-Arba'in fi Usul al-Din" lil Imam al-Ghazali,
     *** Takhrij Ahadith Sharh al-Quduri lil Aqta',
     *** Takhrij Ahadith al-Shifa' lil Qadi 'Iyad,
     *** Hashiyat 'ala Sharh Alfiyyat al-'Iraqi,
     *** Sharh Mukhtasar al-Tahawi.
 

He passed away at the age of 77 years old on a Thursday evening, the fourth of Rabi' al-Akhir in the year of 879 Hijri. He was buried in Cairo.
