This Mawlid Al-Asrar al-Rabbaniyya fi Mawlid Ashraf al-Khala'iq il-Insaniyya, also known as 'Al-Mawlid al-'Uthmani' is recited in many parts of the world, especially in Egypt, the Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia where the women and children have memorised it by its constant recitation.


The Gnostics have mentioned that this Mawlid has two unique features that make it distinctive in the genre of Mawlid literature. They are the statements: ''I was commanded'' and ''I was given glad tidings.''  Meaning that Al-Sayyid Muhammad 'Uthman al-Mirghani, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, [d.1286h] was instructed directly by the Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, to compose this Mawlid. The Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, gave him the good news that on its recitation He will be present, and one's supplication will be answered during the mention of the birth and at the end of the Mawlid


The blessed mawlid of the great Gnostic Al-Sayyid Muhammad Uthman al-Mirghani, may Allah be pleased with him.


                        He, radi Allahu ta'ala anhu, said, "The Prophet, peace &
                        blessings be upon him, gave me the glad tidings that he will
                        be present whenever this mawlid is recited"
