Description :
This volume presents a practical introduction to acts of worship according to the Hanbali school of Islamic law. The text comes from Shaykh Ibn Balbān’s 'Supreme Synopsis' (Akhsar al-Mukhtasarat), a favourite introduction covering the full range of topics.
The chapters of this volume cover purification, prayer, zakat, fasting, pilgrimage, and jihad. The text includes numerous explanatory notes to equip students for personal practice, and to prepare them for more advanced studies.
This edition includes the Arabic text, its translation, and notes drawn from its commentaries—especially Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Ba‘li’s Kashf al-Mukhaddarat.
This volume covers the first third of Shaykh Ibn Balban’s 'Supreme Synopsis.' Future volumes will cover the rest of the text.
About the Author :
Muhammad bin Badr al-Din bin 'Abd al-Haqq bin Balban al-Hanbali (d. 1083 / 1672) was a latter-generation Hanbali scholar. He was born in Damascus and spent most of his life there as a resident scholar teaching and training others. His biographers considered him to be a person of knowledge; he was always engaged in education and training. He was known for his knowledge of hadith and fiqh, including mastery of the four schools. Besides being an intellectual, he was a righteous worshipper who had little to do with the world, an ascetic.
