Bilal ibn Rabah or Bilal al-Habashi (580-640 Common Era) was a Companion (Sahaba) of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Originally an Abyssinian (Ethiopian) Arab, he was born in Makkah and is considered as the first muezzin chosen by the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, himself.
