Description :

Love for the Messenger Muhammad ﷺ, by the late Muhaddith al-Sham Shaykh Nur al-Din ‘Itr, may Allah have mercy upon him.  The book is a translation of his Arabic treatise entitled Hubb al-rasul ﷺ min al-Iman, Love for the Messenger ﷺ is a part of faith.

Having true love for the Messenger ﷺ is a divine command, while cultivating this love such that he ﷺ becomes more beloved to one than one’s own self was described by the Prophet ﷺ as the hallmark of true faith. None displayed this love for him ﷺ more than the best of generations, the Companions. Their love was described by the Commander of the Faithful ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, who said, ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was more beloved to us than our wealth, children, fathers, mothers and more beloved to us than cool water at the point of thirst.’

So how do we attain such love? What can we do to increase our love for him ﷺ? How would those closest to him express their love for him? And what did the Messenger ﷺ instruct us to do regarding this most significant of matters? The author Shaykh Nūr al-Dīn ʿItr, may Allah have mercy upon his soul, the foremost hadith authority of Greater Syria in his era, outlines the true meaning of sincere love for the Prophet ﷺ in light of the Words of the Merciful and those of His Elect ﷺ.

About the Author :

Born in 1937, Dr. Nūr al-Dīn ʿItr first graduated from the Khusrāwiyyah—in Ḥalab al-Shahbāʾ (1954). From there he would go directly to Azhār for his university and graduate studies. Before his final return to Syria, he spent the years between 1965-1967 as a professor in al-Madīnat al-Munawwara. Dr. Nūr al-Dīn was in the 82nd year of his affiliation with the Sunnah of Allah’s Beloved Messenger ﷺ when he passed away in September 2020.

One of the diminutive booklets, highlighting the most accessible narratives of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, that he published in his later years—and loved to liberally distribute by hand wherever he would go, was recently rendered into English as; Loving the Messenger of Allah [Heritage Press: London (2014)]. Two others being his, How to Perform Hajj and Umrah According to the Four Sunni Schools of Law (2013) and Muhammad ﷺ Messenger To Mankind (2019). Allah Bless his repose, give him comfort, accept his years of indefatigable service, and unite him with his Beloved  ﷺ on the mountain tops of Your highest Farādīs.
