Mishkat Shareef, within a short period of time, gained the acceptance of the ulama and this contributed to it's popularity. The extent of its popularity and value can be estimated by the large number of commentaries and translations that have appeared in due course in various languages. Ashi'ah al-Lama'at [The Shining Rays of Revelation] is considered one of the important commentaries and translations of Mishkat shareef due to the reputation of its author Shaykh Abd'al Haq Muhaddith al-Dihlawi, rahimahullah.
About the Author :
The great Muhaddith, who propagated the knowledge of Hadith in the Indian subcontinent, Sayyiduna Shaykh ‘Abd al-Haq Muhaddith al-Dehlavi al-Qadiri, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, was born in 958 Hijri, corresponding to 1551 C.E. in “Delhi”, India.

He completed studying Sharh Shamsiyyah and Sharh ‘Aqaaid at the ages of twelve & thirteen, and more advanced books, such as Mukhtasar and Mutawwal at the age of fifteen & sixteen. Shaykh al-Muhaqqiq spent his entire life in preserving and propagating Islam and its message. For the most part of his 94 years’ life, it was spent in studying, researching, writing and composing books.
