Description :

Al-Ihsan fi Taqrib Sahih ibn Hibban is an extensive and reliable first-hand source of Hadith. This vast compilation contains authentic ahadith of both the first and second-grade (sahih and hasan).

This nine volume edition by Dar al Taaseel has had the hadith chapters meticulously rearranged by Ali ibn Balban (d. 739/1339) according to the topics of fiqh (jurisprudence) and published them as al-Ihsan fi Taqrib Sahih Ibn Hibban. Good quality print on cream paper.

Ibn Hibban divides the Sunnah into the following five categories :

    ---Commands : 110 subcategories,
    ---Prohibitions : 110 subcategories,
    ---Formative : 80 subcategories,
    ---Permissible (mubah) : 50 subcategory,
    ---Prophetic actions : 50 subcategories.

This ordering of the sunnah is unique to Ibn Hibban and gives his work an added value. Not only is Ibn Hibban’s Sahih a compilation of hadith, it is also an extensive encyclopedia of fiqh. In the heading of every hadith, Ibn Hibban captions the fiqh positions he has derived from the hadith. Moreover, at the end of most every hadith, Ibn Hibban includes useful commentary about the narrators or about the Text. He also illuminates fine points of meaning that may be otherwise liable to misunderstanding.

His famous work “Sahih Ibn Hibban” is said to be amongst the most authentic collection of hadiths after Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim and Sahih ibn Khuzaymah.
