Description

Risala-i Kubra (the greater treatise on logic) has for centuries served as a persian primer textbook on logic (ilm al-Mantiq). The text comprises 35 sections and covers a vast array of fundamental topics relating to logic. The text was authored with the purpose of introducing the discipline of logic to a novice student; hence, it remained among the very initial texts which students would study and memorise to begin their pursuit of scholarship on logic.

Clear and precise English translation with Persian text. Translated by Zulfiqar H. Pirzada al-Azhari.

The First Ever English Translation of Risala-i Kubra - The Greater Treatise on Logic. A classical text of Dars-i Niẓami on traditional logic written by the Persian encyclopaedic scholar, ‘Ali ibn Muḥammad al-Jurjani (740-816 AH).

He attained his religious education from the foremost authorities of his time, namely al-'Allama Mubarak Shah and al-'Allama Akmal al-D'n Muhammad b. Mahmud al-Bibarti. Under the guardianship of such reputable luminaries, he became known by two epithets; “al-Sayyid al-Sanad” and “Mir Sayyid”.
