Description :

Bada'i al-Sana'i fi Tarteeb ash-Shara'i  - This work is a classical manual of fiqh for the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence. It is the distinguished work of Imam 'ala al-Din al-Kashani, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, who made it renowned because of its easy Arabic language and its delivering of hadith as a reference on every issue of fiqh.

This work was originally a sharh (commentary) of the book "Tuhfat al-Fuqaha'a" written by al-Kashani's teacher, Shaykh Ala 'ud-Din Muhammad bin Abi Ahmad al-Samarqandi [d.539 hijri) in Hanafi fiqh.

About the Author :

He is al-Imam al-Allamah al-Shaykh Abu Bakr bin Mas'ud al-Kashani (or Kasani) al-Hanafi. He was a great scholar and jurist who was born in the town of Kazan. He studied and learnt the science of Ilm & Marifat (Knowledge & Enlightenment) from his teacher Shaykh Muhammad bin Abi Ahmad al-Samarqandi, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, and read through him his prominent writings such as "Tuhfat Al-Fuqaha'a" the sharh of Tawilaat fi Tafsir al-Qur'an al-Azim.

Shaykh al-Samarqandi arranged the marriage of al-Kashani to his daughter Fatima who had memorised Tuhfat al-Fuqaha (her father's writing). When Al-Kashani wrote sharh of "Tuhfa" (referred to as Bada'i al-Sana'i) and offered it to his teacher, he expressed his happiness and offered his daughter in Nikah. The jurists of his time said, "He (al-Kasani) explained his Tuhfa, and he (al-Samarqandi) married him to his daughter"

Shams al-Din Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad al-Khidhr says, "The time when Shaykh al-Kashani came to Damascus, many jurists gathered around him to ask for his Fatawa on which they had doubt (they thought it contradicted Hanafi Fiqh)". But Shaykh al-Kashani eradicated their fears out and said, "I have never gave any Fatwa that goes against Hanafi fiqh."

Shaykh al-Kasani died in 587 After Hijri. Ash-Shaykh Ziya al-Din said that he was present with him at his time of death, ... he started to recite Surah al-Ibrahim, where he read the verse number 27 where Allah ta'ala says "Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in the worldly life and in the Hereafter." Upon completeion of the Ayat he passed away.
