Description : :
"The Visitations of Iraq to the Stations of Interlife" is a travelogue exploring spiritual gravesites in Baghdad and other Iraqi locales. It details a trip taken in June 2002 and includes insights into the lives of those buried in the graves, their virtues, and the benefits of visiting these sites.
This memento is of a spiritual journey to Baghdad (The City of Peace) during the season of the Urs of Ghawth al-A'zam; Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jaylani, may Allah be pleased with him. The title attempts to capture the spirit of the generic Arabic terms that are used to refer to the subject, such as darih (grave-bed), hadra (presence), maqam (station, residence), marqad (resting place), mazar (visitation), qabr (burial-place), thara (earth) and ziyarah (visitation).
The visit took place in the company of a group of students living in blessed Damascus at the time. A glimpse of the lives of some of those laid to rest are mentioned, as well as their virtues and merits. The book also covers the etiquette and benefits of visiting and being in the company of people of lofty stations in life and after death.
The account of the journey is arranged into 12 sections :
