Preface - '' To introduce a personality in the Muslim world who is regarded as a symbol of the traditional, balanced and orthodox interpretation of our beautiful way of life - Islam, is no small task.

Based around the scholarly interpretation of the Qur'an and the Prophetic Sunnah, together with Sufi practice, the Ahl al-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah [the greater mass of the ummah who followed the Sunnah] began to take shape in the 1880's to revive the Islamic spirit which was being corrupted in the Indian sub-continent as a result of the British Rule, of extremism and rising cults within the region.

The leading light of this 'Islamic Revival' was a dynamic individual called 'Ala Hadrat, Maulana Shah Ahmad Riza Khan, May Allah be pleased with him. The adjective 'Ala Hadrat' means 'great person' and is a fitting title for the Imam, who was a Scholar, a Hafiz, a Qari, a Mufti, a Mufassir and a Muhaddith. This multi talented and multi dimensional man of God had a great and vast depth & breadth of knowledge in many subjects, like religious sciences, philosophy, economy, astronomy, and mathematics.
