The book before you encapsulates the life of Imam Abu Hanifah, may Allah be pleased with him, his invaluable services to the religion, his virtues, as well as the testimonials of some of the greatest names of the Islamic tradition in succinct expression. The author has also comprehensively responded to any objections raised regarding the great Imam and his methodology in fiqh. This comprehensive account will allow the reader to gain a deeper insight into the authoritative scholarship, encounters with Companions, incredible intellect, exceptional decorum and character of a man who, unquestionably, remains a guide for millions across the world.
 

For the benefit of the reader, a simple transliteration of Arabic words and footnotes have been provided. At times the editor's have moved some excerpts of the orginal text to a footnote for ease of flow.

About the Author :

He is Shibab al-Din Abu al-'Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Hajar al-Haytami al-Makki al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, popularly known as Ibn Hajar al-Haytami al-Makki, radi Allahu ta'ala anhu.

Ibn Hajar was a famous Muhaddith and theologian of Islam. As well as being a master of hadith, the shaykh was revered as an authority in Islamic Jurisprudence [fiqh] and well known as a prolific writer of the Shafi'i school. With al-Imam Ahmad al-Ramli, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, he represents the foremost resource for fatawa (legal opinion) for the entire late Shafi'i school. After a lifetime of outstanding scholarship, Imam ibn Hajar passed away & was laid to rest in Makkah in 974 H.



About the Translator :

He is Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nizam Ashraf al-Ashrafi from Bolton, United Kingdom. He is the grandson of the polymath, Sadr ul Ulama Hadrat Allamah Sayyid Ghulam Jilani, rahmatullahi 'alayhi. Mawlana Nizam studied the Islamic Sciences in the UK, as well as in India for several years. His teachers include Shaykh Mufti Ayub al-Ashrafi, Shaykh Mufti Qamar Alam al-Ashrafi, Shaykh Anwar Ahmad al-Baghdadi amongst others.

He is currently serving as the Head Imam at Masjid al-Ghosia (Bolton), while also teaching the advanced studies class at the madrasah. Furthermore he is a lecturer at Greengate Islamic College.
