Three Indispensable Virtues

Of all the religious observances and acts of worship that have been discussed, such as fasting [siyam] in certain months, the offering of animal sacrifice [udhiyya], the performance of ritual prayer [salat], practices of divine remembrance [adhkar], and so on-as well as those that will be discussed later, if Allah (Exalted is He) so wills-none will be accepted except after repentance [tawba], purity of heart, sincere devotion [ikhlas] to working for the sake of Allah (Exalted is He), and the abandonment of hypocritical display [riya'] and the effort to gain a reputation [sum'a].

The Three Indispensible Virtues : concern the importance of :

Sultan al-Awliya; Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, may Allah sanctify his secret, born near the Caspian Sea, in a town called Jilan, is one of the most venerated figures in tasawwuf.  The venerable Ghawth 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, may Allah sanctify his secret, is noted for his extraordinary spiritual experiences and exploits, as well as his memorable sayings and wise teachings. It is rightly said of him that 'he was born in love, grew in perfection, and met his Lord in the perfection of love.


The shaykh passed on to the Realm of Divine Beauty in 561_A.H /1166 _C.E and his mausoleum in Baghdad attracts millions of pilgrims from throughout the globe.
