Al Kawkab al-Sari fi Haqiqat al-Juz al Ikhtiyari - is a small but important work about
qadr (destiny) by the prolific author Imam 'Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulusi,
alayhi ar-Rahman w'al-Ridwan, and as such is a refutation of the
Jabariyah sect who claim that humans were forced to do acts without any choice on their part.
Shaykh al-Imam ‘Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulusi (d. 1143 ah)
alayhi ar-Rahman 'wal-Ridwan, was a high ranking
Hanafi
jurist, theologian, and spiritual master in the Ottoman era from
Damascus, Syria.
He was a gifted and prolific author, and a virtual
encyclopedia of Islamic knowledge, who joined the exoteric and esoteric,
authoring over 200 book on a variety of sciences. He taught in the
renowned Umawi Mosque in Damascus and the Salihiyya Seminary.
