And Muhammad is His Messenger   by Anne Marie Schimmel

The Veneration of the Prophet in Islamic Piety ( Paperback - 377 pages )

Book Description : The important role of the Prophet Muhammad Peace & Blessings upon Him in the everyday lives of Muslims is usually overlooked by Western scholars and has consequently never been understood by the Western world. Using original sources in the various Islamic languages, Annemarie Schimmel explains the central place of Muhammad in Muslim life, mystical thought, and poetry. She sees the veneration of Muhammad as having many parallels in other major religions.

In order to understand Muslim piety it is necessary to take into account the long history of the veneration of Muhammad Peace & Blessings upon Him. Schimmel discusses aspects of his life, birth, marriage, miracles, and heavenly journey, all of which became subjects for religious devotions. By using poetic texts and artistic expressions and by examining daily Muslim religious practices, Schimmel shows us the gentler side of Islamic religious culture, providing a much-needed understanding of religion as it is experienced and   practiced in the Islamic world.

This is the first book in English to deal with all aspects of the veneration of the Prophet Muhammad Peace & Blessings upon Him. It is an expanded version of Schimmel's Und Muhammad Ist Sein Prophet, originally published in  German in 1981.

Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam

Paperback - 88 pages                                                                              by Adem Yakup

Description from the publisher: Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala has sent Prophets to every nation throughout history so that they may show their people the Straight Path. Some of those prophets have been granted miracles by the permission of Allah in order to support their Divine message. Prophets Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa (peace and blessing be upon them all) were just some of the Messengers to whom Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala granted miracles and these are outlined in the Qur'an.

Similarly, The Prophet Muhammad (
Peace and Blessings upon him) was also granted miracles throughout his life for people to see and learn from, by Allah's permission. Many of these are well-known such as the Night Journey and Ascent through the heavens. Others are less well-known such as the flowing of water from the fingers of the Prophet (Peace and Blessings upon him). This book explores the nature of a miracle, the reasons why miracles are granted to prophets and takes a detailed look at the miracles granted to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings upon him) drawing from the authentic sources of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

This is a beautifully finished and well presented book.
