The Gulistan one of the most famous works on tasawwuf is considered a landmark of Persian literature, perhaps its single most influential work of prose. Written in 1258 CE, it is one of two major works of the Persian poet Shaykh Sa'di, considered one of the greatest medieval Persian poets.


Sa'di al-Shirazi : Poet, prose writer and thinker, Shaykh Muslihuddin Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Mushrifuddin Sa'di, also referred to as Shaykh Sa'di and Sa'di Shirazi, was born in Shiraz in or around 580AH. He died in Shiraz at an old age.
