DescriptionIntroduction to Islamic Creed

As a response to a request, Imam al-Bajuri, may Allah have mercy upon him, in this short treatise outlines, the core beliefs of the traditional, orthodox Sunni doctrine ('Aqida) that every Muslim should be aware of.

The Shaykh writes:

" this blamable soul in need of the mercy of his Master, the
Omniscient, the Observant, informs that a brother, may
Allāh reform him and I, asked me to write for him a good
treatise dealing with the attributes of the Lord and their
antitheses, what is permissible for Him Most High, what
are the attributes that are logically necessary for the divine
Messengers (al-Rusul), what attributes are logically possible
for them, and what attributes are logically impossible for
them. So I undertook this effort to comply with his request.
All enabling ability belongs to Allāh, so seeking His aid I
declare: Every accountable soul [that is, every sane soul
possessed of reason by having come of age through the
attainment of puberty] is obliged [by sacred law (al shari‘ah)]
to know what is logically necessary for Him Most High,
what is possible for Him, and what is impossible for Him."

Designed to be studied preferably with a teacher or read on one's own, this text will equip the student with sufficient knowledge of the bare essentials of his religion to be able to distinguish truth from falsehood, orthodox from unorthodox, Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama'a from others.
