Hashiya by Shaykh 'Abd al-Hayy Lacknawi [d.1304h],
*Published by Al-Bushra, Pakistan.

Description :

Al-Hidayah - The Hidayah represents the refined, distilled and authentic version of a legal tradition developed over many centuries. It presents the corpus of Hanafi [fiqh] law in its approved and preferred form and forges an organic link with the other schools of law.

There is no book that can match the power of al-Hidayah as a teaching manual. Education in Islamic law is not complete without this book. Accordingly, each and every madrassah, whatever its affiliation, imparts instruction in Islamic law through al-Hidayah.

This edition in Eight Volumes, is a two colour print, with the text of Bidayat al-Mubtadi in red. Includes a new commentary, adapted from other works, but largely based on the hashiyah of 'Allamah 'Abd al-Hayy Lucknowi. Also includes a new takhrij of hadith.

Imam Burhan al-Din al-Marghinani :

He is Shaykh al-Islam, Muhaddith and Hafiz, Abu al-Hasan Burhan al-Din 'Ali b. Abi Bakr b. 'Abd al Jalal al-Farghani, al-Marghinani, the great Hanafi jurist, was born at Marghian in the vicinity of Farghana in 530/1135. He died in 593/1197. He studied with Mufti Najm al Din Abu Hafs 'Umar al-Nasafi, his son Abu'l Layth Ahmad b. 'Umar al Nasafi and other eminent teachers, and excelled in Hadith, Tafsir, Fiqh and other studies. His scholarship was recognised and praised by eminent scholars such as Imam Fakhr al-Din Qadi Khan, Zahir al-Din Muhammad b. Ahmad al-Bukhari (the author of al-Fatawa al-Zahiriyyah) and others.

Imam 'Abd al-Hayy al-Lacknawi [1264 - 1304 after Hijri]
He is 'Abu l-Hasanat 'Abd al-Hayy bin Muhammad 'Abd al-Haleem al-Ansari al-Lakhnawi (1264-1304 AH / 1848-1887 CE). He was the author of many famous works and a renowned scholar of his time. He was born in Banda, India and was a descendend from the Sahabah - Sayyidina Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, radi Allahu ta'ala anhu.  His predecessors emigrated from Madinah Munawwarah to Hirat, then to Lahore, Delhi and finally to Sihala and Firangi Mahal near Lucknow.

Imam 'Abd al-Hayy memorised the Noble Qur'an at the age of ten. He studied some Persian books under his learned father and continued learning many sciences, so much so that he began teaching many of the books he had learnt himself under various scholars. The Mufti of Makkah, Shaykh Ahmad ibn Zain Dahlan, rahmatullahi ta'ala 'alayhi, granted him permission for all isnad (chain of narration) from Al-Hidayah of Marghinanai as well as what he had learnt from all his teachers.

He passed away in Rabi ul Awwal 1304h. at the young age of 39 and was buried in the graveyard of his ancestors.
