Description :

Tadrib al-Rawi fi Sharh Taqrib al-Nawawi - This sharh is an extensive commentary on the popular Hadith nomenclature titled as Tadrib al-Rawi. It was designed to introduce the beginner to the science of Hadith terminolgy and methodology. Hence the title 'ar-Rawi' which according to the author means "he who has no knowledge of the Matn (text) nor the Isnad (transmitters of the text) and thus this is the first step towards familiarising yourself in this science".

The Taqrib of Imam al-Nawawi, titled as al-Taqrib wa'l taysir li Ma'rifat Sunan al-Bashir wa'l Nadhir is an abridgement of previous title [al-Irshad] of the author himself which was also further abridgement of al-Muqaddimah or 'Ulum al-Hadith by Imam ibn al-Salah. Having studied the Muqaddimah of Ibn al-Salah from senior students of ibn al-Salah, Imam al-Nawawi decided to pen down another abridgement. Thereafter the book receives commentaries upon commentaries and annotations and the most famous is Imam Jalal al-Din 'Abd al-Rahman al-Suyuti's commentary which is presented here Tadrib al-Rawi fi Sharh Taqrib al-Nawawi.

Imam an Nawawi, alayhi ar-Rahman w'al-Ridwan, [631676 A.H. /12341277C.E.] is one of the great Sufi scholars, strictest latter-time hadith masters, and most meticulous of jurists, 'Shaykh al-Islam' al-Imam Muhyiddin Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi is with al-Rafi`i as the principal reference of the late Shafi`i school.

His books remain authoritative in the methodology of the law, in Qur'an commentary, and in hadith. His commentary of Sahih Muslim is second only to Ibn Hajar's commentary of Sahih Bukhari. Allah Almighty gave his famous compilation of Forty Hadiths more circulation and fame than possibly any other book of hadith, large or small, and has allowed an-Nawawi to be of immense benefit to the Community of Islam.
