Lectures on this Islamic classic are now available accompanied by beautiful films shot at historic sites around the Muslim world, among the communities nourished by the teachings of the Imam. This DVD set introduces four of the most important of the forty 'book' topics which comprise this massive work. They relate to 'Saving Practices' (munjiyat). In this collection are the following Books 31 -34 :

   ---Repentance,
   ---Patience and Gratitude,
   ---Fear and Hope,
   ---Poverty and Renunciation.

Disc 31
also includes an interview with Osman Lavic, curator at the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, and translator of Imam al-Busiri’s Qasidat al-Burda into Bosnian (2008). Lavic shows the Sarajevo manuscript of al-Ghazali’s work, thought to be the oldest in the world, and talks about some of the other unique treasures in his collection.

Qur’anic recitation is by Hafiz Mensur Melkic, Imam of the Gazi-Husrev Beg Mosque, Sarajevo.

Location
: The Sinanova Tekke, is a sufi lodge on the outskirts of the city of Sarajevo. The word tekke orginates from the persian word tekije. Tekkes are also known as Zawiyas (arabic) or khanqahs (south Asia). All tekke's, regardless of size, feature a large central hall. The daily ritual prayers incumbent on all Muslims , the Salaah, maybe held in this hall, as are the specifically Sufi forms of dhikr , meditation and celebration of the divine.

Speaker : Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad (aka Dr Timothy Winter)

Dr Abdal Hakim Murad (born 1960), is a British Sunni Sufi Muslim  researcher, writer and academic. He is also Dean of the Cambridge Muslim College, UK, which trains Imams for British mosques. In 2010 he was voted Britain’s most influential Muslim thinker by Jordan’s Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre.

He has translated a number of books from the Arabic, including several sections of Imam al-Ghazali's Ihya' Ulum al-Din.

Contents4 DVD's Lecture Summary :-

---31:  Repentance (al-Tawba). What is wrong action? How can we understand our damaged inner state, and repair it? The Imam explains that repentance consists of knowledge of the act, an emotion of sorrow, and a decisive inner and outward action that will erase the wrong action and help the spiritual wayfarer never to return to it.

---32: Patience and Gratitude (al-Sabr wa’l-Shukr). We are made human by our ability to restrain our egos and cravings. We also experience states of overwhelming gratitude to our Creator. Here the Imam explains how to cultivate these two gifts, and to keep them in a positive relationship which promotes spiritual growth.

---33: Fear and Hope (al-Khawf wa’l-Raja’). Almighty God is to be feared; for His justice is absolute. But we also hope for His mercy, for He is ‘the most merciful of all’. We fear our weakness, and hope for God’s forgiveness; the Imam explains how the balanced soul is one in which both these gifts are alive and active.

---34: Poverty and Renunciation (al-Faqr wa’l-Zuhd). Here the Imam celebrates the poverty of the Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and shows how a detached attitude to the things of this world is a precondition for inner calm and a stress-free life.
